Goals

Foundations are pioneers. They often use unconventional ways of power and conviction to mould the community. In this sense they resemble enterprises.

Since its creation in 1980 through ALTANA AG the Herbert Quandt Foundation has been dedicated to various topics of science, education and politics. In October 2007 the Foundation separated from the ALTANA enterprises and developed its own socio-political profile, whose focal point is the free and responsible citizen in a community. Consequently, the Foundation poses fundamental questions with regard to the present and future of our society: what are the important binding ties of togetherness, where do challenges arise and with what measures should these be countered: what is to be separated and what to be included?

In this respect, the Herbert Quandt Foundation sees itself as an agency for ideas and impulses. The clearer its profile, the greater the success of the projects. The more praxis-near its approach, the greater the contribution to society.

I am glad that through this Foundation I can contribute to shaping change in our society.
